The Aldersgate Preschool is a not-for-profit educational program sponsored as a community service activity of Aldersgate United Methodist Church.  The preschool was founded in 1967 with a curriculum developed on Christian principles with a firm foundation in academics.  We seek to serve the entire community and stimulate learning and understanding for children of different backgrounds.

Preschool Classes                                   Hours:  9:00am to 1:00pm
  • 3-Day Three Year Olds:  Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday
  • 5-Day Three Year Olds:  Monday through Friday
  • 3-Day Four Year Olds:  Monday, Wednesday, Friday
  • 5-Day Four Year Olds:  Monday through Friday
(age requirements are as of September 1 of the school year)

Our Philosophy
The Aldersgate Preschool will make a sincere effort to meet important characteristic needs of the three and four year old child.
  • the need for SECURITY
  • the need for SUCCESS
  • the need to KNOW
  • the need to BELONG
  • the need to CHANGE
  • the need for AESTHETIC SATISFACTION
Additionally, an effort will be made to develop a sense of humor, which is a part of the whole child.  Learning activities will be related to the child's needs assuring a richer, more meaningful program.  We shall attempt to combine these needs in balanced proportions to such a degree as to whet the child's appetite for formal education.  We will strive to meet these needs in a warm church related environment.

Our Objectives
The general objectives of the program are to further the spiritual, emotional, social, mental and physical development of the preschool child through activities that:
  • help children develop an understanding of life that is in harmony with Christian principles
  • promote health, physical growth, and motor development
  • increase independence in meeting and solving problems
  • strengthen inner emotional controls
  • allow the child to recognize reasonable limits and to influence growth towards self-discipline
  • encourage self-thinking, self-confidence, and self-understanding
  • foster security with adults
  • stimulate acceptance for children of different ages and backgrounds
  • promote language skills including good listening and speech habits
  • promote free self-expression in art, music, and dance
  • broaden intellectual horizons
  • help children to observe, investigate, seek and acquire information, and think critically
